My Heroine

 

Today, I’m giving my love to a woman who has given her all

Saying my thank you for her love, care, support and guidance

But how do I even begin to talk about this awesome woman?

How do I tell the world of how beautiful you are inside and outside?

Do I begin by saying you are my role model and inspiration?

Or do I tell the world about how you have loved me unconditionally?

Do I delve into the lessons learnt from you?

Or do I talk about the times you’ve made me smile?

You have taught me what it means to be a woman who fears the Lord

You have exemplified to me what a good wife and mother looks like

I love you unconditionally, and every day I pray to God to make me my mother’s kind of woman

Your heart of gold glows everywhere you go

You have always given yourself and your resources to everyone around you

I remember waking up on Saturday mornings and being forced to bring out all my clothes, just so that you can choose which ones to give out to “people who need them more than I do.”

You have given to the point that I and my siblings have tagged you “Madame Over-generosity” and even made fun of you.

But as I have grown, I have seen that your kind and generous heart is a virtue worthy of emulation.

Everywhere your children go; you’ve always showed up as the “golden mum” and made us proud amongst our friends

I cannot count how many times I have heard the phrase “Your mum is so cool and friendly” from my friends.

Even being in a foreign land, the lessons you have taught me has stayed with me, and I want to assure you that I am working hard to make you proud of me

All I’m trying to say is that I love you and I’m proud to be associated with such a beautiful soul; not just as someone I know, but as my own dear mother.
